Quiet Eye for improving Shooting

The "quiet eye" fixation method is a focus technique used in sports to enhance accuracy and performance, particularly in precision tasks like shooting, golf putting, or archery. It involves maintaining a prolonged, steady gaze on a specific target just before the execution of a movement.

The key idea is that by locking in on the target with a stable focus (often referred to as a "quiet eye period"), an athlete can reduce distractions, improve their hand-eye coordination, and optimize their motor control, leading to better performance.

A recommendation would be during a free throw to go through your usual routine and when your routine is done to take a look at your target and take a deep breath as you stare at the target, then start to perform your shooting motion. After my gaze, one deep breath I finish with "nothing but net!"
